This past Thursday, the Queen’s Innovation Connector Summer Initiative came to a head as the participating students showed off the businesses they had started in the form of a pitch competition. They  presented their ideas before a panel of judges as well as an audience of interested community members in one of the classrooms in Sir John A. MacDonald Hall.

The winning team, Gryllies, a company making a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to beef using ground crickets, took home a prize of $35,000 of which $5,000 was contributed by Launch Lab.

Iris Technologies, a company who has made an eye-friendly screen for concussion and migraine sufferers, and Lumos, who have made a caffeine strip for a quick boost of energy, also took home large sums of money. They received $15,000 as well as another $5,000 from Launch Lab each.
