
Mike Amos | Advisor
Mike is currently semi-retired and maintains a portfolio of commercial and charitable activities. He is the owner of Fairfield Management Inc., focusing on the development and operation of high-quality income properties in Prince Edward County, where he manages nine rental units. Mike also advises growing software companies, including Nudge Rewards, Smart Action LLP, RFG, and VentureLab. Previously, he served as a volunteer advisor to MaRS Discovery District, iCube at the University of Toronto, and as a volunteer member of the University of Toronto College of Electors, where he was involved in appointing alumni governors and the Chancellor to the University’s Governing Council. He also served on the board of the Regent Theatre in Picton until March 2019.
Prior to semi-retirement, Mike was the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Empathica Inc., where he led the company from its inception to a successful exit over an 11-year period. Under his leadership, Empathica grew from a single employee to a team of 180 across three countries, becoming a global leader in Voice of the Customer software with major clients such as Starbucks, Exxon, Tesco, Shoppers Drug Mart, Canadian Tire, and CitiBank. The company’s solutions were installed in over 100,000 retail locations across 52 countries and 26 languages. Mike raised $15 million in private equity and debt financing and eventually sold the company to a U.S. competitor in 2013, while also serving as Chairman of the Board, which included five outside directors.
Earlier in his career, Mike held several senior roles, including Senior Vice-President at Brookfield Properties, Director at Loblaw Companies, Operations Manager at PepsiCo, and Analyst at Dun & Bradstreet. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1991 with a degree in Commerce.
