King’s Lock Craft Distillery Awarded Bronze Medal for its 1000 Islands Moonshine
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Kingston, ON – King’s Lock Craft Distillery, located in Johnstown Ontario, is pleased to announce that our 1000 Islands Moonshine has been awarded a Bronze medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2017 (ISC) in London, England.
The ISC is the premier event in promoting outstanding quality spirits from across the globe. Receiving more than 1,300 entries from nearly 70 countries worldwide makes the ISC a truly global competition. It is supported by many of the world’s leading spirits producers as the international standard for quality and excellence.
The ISC Tasting Awards winners are established through a rigorous judging process – a highly controlled operation held over seven days of intense blind tastings by panels of more than 50 respected and experienced industry professionals.
Co-Owner Joe Kelly indicated, “We are thrilled that one of our spirits was honored with such a prestigious award.” King’s Lock Craft Distillery is currently the only Ontario distillery offering certified organic spirits. 1000 Islands Moonshine is a sugar cane distillate, which is aged on oak. “This spirit is our most popular and has beautiful caramel notes along with a light sweet flavour”, commented co-owner Rob Heuvel.
Both men, who are the distillers, appreciate that their efforts to make a smooth, clean palatable spirit have been recognized in this tasting award. 1000 Islands Moonshine was entered in the Rum and Cane Spirits category and its category winners include products from many distillers including names such as Angostura, Havana Club International and William Grant & Sons.
King’s Lock distills five products currently and is planning the release of their aged rye before July 1, 2017. This product like the rest has a name with a historical name in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. Check our website or Facebook for our release status.
