Ask the experts: Mental health & wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic

September 2, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

A chance to talk to the experts on how to maintain overall good mental and physical health to help reduce stress for business owners.

Panelist:

Fidel Matthews –

Fidel has called the Quinte Bay and Prince Edward County home since 2005. As a military veteran and a rehabilitation specialist, Fidel has always felt the need to serve the needs of her community. With years of providing professional rehabilitation therapy to her clients, Fidel feels fortunate to have helped so many people in improving their level of fitness and their quality of life.

Bringing the incredible benefits of flotation therapy to the Quinte area is the exciting next chapter for Fidel in her quest to improve the lives of all those around her.

The floatation tanks are filled with 1000 pounds of Epsom salt and heated to skin temperature. Epsom salts contains magnesium which is considered a vital mineral involved in 300 biochemical reactions that regulate our health and wellness. Unfortunately, most of us simply do not get enough of this powerful mineral and unknowingly suffer from magnesium deficiency. Transdermal absorption (through the skin) has been found to be the most effective way to reach your daily levels and is very safe. If you are deficient in magnesium the following may occur:

Anxiety, Irritability, Depression, Nervousness, Low energy, Headaches, Weakness, Abnormal Heart Rhythm, Inability to sleep, Muscle tension, PMS/Hormonal Imbalances, Cramps and spasms, Arthritis, and joint pain.

The floatation tanks have 49% magnesium, and you soak this up while floating.

Pauline Kaldeway –

Pauline has been teaching for the last 30 years. Seven years ago she transitioned into the Special Education and learning support department. This past year she took a year off to pursue further education and training to support the mental and physical health of staff, students and their families.

Little did she know how many valuable life lessons she would learn over this past year. (Balancing Online Learning – Masters course “A BioPsychoSocial Approach to Counselling) with family commitments. Global connections, Mentoring, Self-study on Yoga, HRV, and learning)

With a desire to be part of a solution for flourishing health in this community, she started up my business, Rewired Learning. Listed as an alternative, holistic health service, she is a certified provider of listening and sound therapy.

With universal design as a core value, the listening programs are necessary for some but can benefit whole families. Many people
do not realize how much of our brain and body activity flows through the ears. With daily stressors, our bodies tense up and negatively affect our ears, nervous system and brain.
